Stories from Cabo Velas
By Karen Morán, Executive Director
When we talk about the wellbeing of older adults, we often think first of health and care. Both matter deeply. But there is something just as important that we hear again and again when we sit down and listen: the need to belong, to keep learning, and to still have a place in the life of the community.
A place to belong, learn, and connect
Rosa Amelia López reminded us of this. Through our spaces for older adults at Futuro Brillante, she has found people to share with, activities to look forward to, and a community that welcomes her just as she is. Her story says something we believe with all our hearts: growing older should never mean being left out.
“Every generation deserves a place to participate. That is not a favor; it is a matter of dignity.”
Our gatherings are about much more than coming to a scheduled activity. They are places to talk, laugh, learn something new and, above all, find one another. When an older adult stays connected, their self-esteem grows, and the whole community gains their wisdom, memory and presence.
At Futuro Brillante we walk alongside children, young people, families and older adults, because wellbeing has to reach every stage of life. Sometimes impact begins with something as simple as opening a door and saying: come in, you belong here.
Help keep this door open
Today we invite you to help keep this door open in two ways. Give $60 USD to continue supporting the daily therapies that care for our older adults, including sessions with a neurotherapist, art therapy, support for those grieving the loss of a loved one, group therapy and more. And if you live in the area, contact us to give your time; sometimes the greatest gift is simply being present.
